Our Board

The School Board is the policy-making body of the School. The five School Board Members serve two year terms with half of the Directors being up for reelection at each annual corporation meeting in August.

Board Members

Sherry Stein Epstein will be the Founding Director of both the Founding Board and the Governing Board.  Ms. Stein Epstein holds a MBA from Cleveland State University, a J.D. from University of Pittsburg Law School, and B.A. from Vassar College.  She is currently employed as General Counsel and Treasurer at ATC Lighting and Plastics, Inc.  Ms. Stein Epstein brings years of experience in public service to the Board.  She currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Virtual Schoolhouse, Inc., a post she has held since 2004.  She also currently serves on the Board for the Israel Bonds Women's Division and the CWRU Friends of Eldred Theater.  Recently, she has also served on the Boards of the Tree of Knowledge Learning Centers and Cleveland Hebrew Schools.  Ms. Stein Epstein was a founding Board member of both Virtual Schoolhouse, Inc. and Tree of Knowledge Learning Centers.  She has extensive experience working with children with special needs and their parents.  Additionally, her experience as a corporate attorney and her MBA will bring legal and business expertise to the Board.

Jason Wasser currently works for Applied Behavioral Solutions in Miami.  His work with this firm includes providing therapy services to children with behavioral problems and their families and providing supplementary training and support to student interns.  In the past Mr. Wasser has been a youth director at Beth Ahm Israel and a program director at Southern Region Young Judaea.  Because of this work experience, Mr. Wasser brings expertise in both education and mental health to the Board.  Mr. Wasser holds a M.S. from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, FL. and a B.A. from S.U.N.Y. Empire State College in Manhattan, NY. 

Rabbi Moshe Rothchild is a senior rabbi of the Beit David Highland Lakes Shul congregation in Florida.  Mr. Rothchild brings years of teaching and community service to the Board.  He has spent significant time teaching and directing student activities at the middle and high school levels.  Currently, he is highly involved in public service to the Jewish community of South Florida.  Mr. Rothchild holds a B.A. in Psychology from Yeshiva University.  He received his Rabbinic Ordination from Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary.

Melvyn Howard brings accounting and financial experience to the Board.  Until 2005 he was employed at the Howard, Wersbale, and Co. accounting and auditing firm - a firm which he helped to found.  In his work at this firm, Mr. Howard specialized in all aspects of financial planning, corporate and individual taxes and planning, and providing consultation services to business clients (health care institutions and professionals, real estate development companies, and other corporations).  Mr. Howard currently provides limited services to former clients at Howard, Wersbale, and Co.  He is actively involved in various civic and charitable organizations in Florida. 

Mr. Ilan Sredni brings expertise in educational technologies to the Board.  Mr. Sredni is the CEO and founder of Palindrome Consulting, Inc., an information technologies consulting firm.  Mr. Sredni's expertise will ensure that TOKLA's focus on providing educational options through effective technologies reaches fruition with well-planned and thoughtful technological purchases and implementations. Mr. Sredni is an active member of the Miami community, currently serving on the board of the Beit David Highland Lakes Shul community synagogue.

Meetings of the Board shall be held monthly during the school year with an additional meeting in August, totaling not less than ten (10) meetings per annum at times and places to be determined by the Board.  Notices of such meetings may be made verbally or in writing.
